Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Research

The Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Research is a department-related competence center that brings together research expertise in atmospheric chemistry, atmospheric physics and safety engineering / environmental protection.
It has existed since August 2014 and enables interdisciplinary collaboration between its working groups to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of atmosphere and environment.
The research at the institute includes the development of new, innovative measurement methods, the implementation of field and laboratory experiments, the modeling and simulation of various environmental and atmospheric systems as well as the improvement of evaluation algorithms. In addition, emphasis is placed on supporting young scientists at every level of training, from first-semester lectures to habilitation, and thus ensuring a sustainable supply of excellent research.
The institute is part of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Atmosphere and Environment.
