Laboratory Studies
In laboratory studies, single reactions and complex reaction sequences that are significant in the atmosphere can be investigated under controlled conditions in simulation chambers and in flux reactors. Since the end of the 1970s, physical chemistry in Wuppertal has been concerned with the elucidation of chemical and physical properties of pollutants in the gas phase (gas phase chemistry) in laboratory studies and since the beginning of the nineties with the investigations of chemical and physical processes on surfaces (heterogeneous chemistry).
