CRISTA-NF - a Helium-cooled Infrared Telescope for the Atmosphere
First Preliminary Results
The radiation measured by the infrared detectors is assigned to single altitude levels. The intensity ratio of two specific wave length regimes allows for a first survey of the transparency of the atmosphere for infrared radiation. The so called Cloud Index along the flight track is shown in the following plots with non-transparent clouds in blue. Thereby blue colors show a low transparency and, thus, the observation of clouds.
